i am hoping that any army pilot who reads this to please help me out. first, i am a 23 yr. old civilian looking to join the army. i dont want to be a grunt on the ground, but i pilot in the air. i have a private helicopter liscence, and 58 college credits. do i even have a chance? flying is in my blood(grandfater, father, brother, myself, all pilots). i am an electrican making over $65,000 a year that i would give up in a heartbeat if given the chance to fly for our country. also how many civilians(if you know)make it in?...or is it all active army personnel who enter woft?any info would help me out greatly. thank you

I would seriously look into going to a reserve unit. Active army isn't really picking up people right out of the civilian sector. Depending on where you live, you can go to the local Reserve recruiter, They have a big mission now to staff the 244th Aviation Brigade with WO pilots.

I am confused because I was looking on this site and it seemed to mention the contrary... http://www.usarec.army.mil/hq/warrant/index.htm
it had this in Bold " Civilians can only apply for the Warrant Officer Aviator Program at this time."

???????????

The boards are picking up almost anyone who applies right now, due to retension problems.

An active duty Army soldier has no better chance than a civilian off the street, That's the problem with this program, things change so often, people are behind the curve, orthey make up their own facts to fit.

APPLY, APPLY, APPLY......period.

Don't listen to people who try to discourage you, often times they are misinformed, or are envious you are applying for it.

I know, I have sat on two selection boards recently.
