I have made up my mind to be an Army aviator. However I am confused. My local recriuter has told me that my best option is to enlist and then apply to be an aviator, but I know you can apply as a civilian.

Also I have been told to get an Aviation related MOS so that references will be easier to obtain. Is this true? Or does it matter what MOS I pick if 153A is my ultimate goal. Does a current MOS pull any weight with the review board?

thanks for your help.

Hi,

You may want to ask about the Warrant Officer Flight Training program (WOFT). If you get in, you'll go to 9 weeks of basic training with everybody who joins the Army, then 6 weeks of Warrant Officer Basic (WOCS) where you'll become a Warrant Officer. After that graduation you go directly to flight school at Ft. Rucker Alabama.
I've just finished the process in the last couple of weeks and will hear whether or not I get in by next week. If you have any questions about the process feel free to shoot me an e-mail at "Latitude45n@netscape.net". I'm definitely not an expert on this but I can tell you what I've found so far.

My paperwork is going in front of the board Tuesday. I am going for warrant officer pilot. The problem is that I'm supposed to get married next summer and I don't know when I will have time for that. My recruiter says that I will have time at the end of basic flight training which is 37 weeks. I would like a second opinion on that before I sign. Does anyone have any info on this?

Just wondering if this goes for the army national guard too? I've been told it's only for active army.
