ok, here is my situation: i'm trying to get back into aviation, working now as a computer tech for an army contractor. i'm about to move into a new house, and planning on having a baby with my wife later this year. i read in the paper that the army raised it's recruiting age to 40. since i am 38 (yes, that's THIRTY eight), is there any chance at all that i would be able to get an age waiver? i already have my civilian commercial license/instrument & multi ratings, so i already have a first class physical. i am overweight, but it's not an issue. i am prior service, 6 years working on Apache's, 1 year in Korea and the rest in ft. hood, tx. would it really be worth my time at all to pursue becoming a WO now? i researched pay rates, and even after 20 years, i would be making less than i would if i were an avionics tech. how often do you WO pilots REALLY fly? is the flight pay enough? what i am really dreading is all the BS i remember from basic from the first time, and from what i have heard, the pu**ification has gotten even worse in the last 10 years.(i was in from 1995-2001). any advice will be immensely appreciated

From what I've seen and read online the age forty rule applies only to OCS candidates - which there is no guarantee of being branched to Aviation. They did rise the WO age to 33. Check out this link - http://www.usarec.army.mil/hq/warrant/prerequ/WO153A.html

Also since you have PS there might be some other way - I'm not sure, I am currently a civilian working on my WOFT packet. Also check out this website - www.armyocs.com

They have a lot more forums with a lot of great information.

Cheers
Doug
