NVG TERRAIN FLIGHT
MODE SELECTION
1.
Mode of flight - The mode of flight will be based on METT-T as well as other considerations such as weather, ambient light, and contrast.
2.
NVG terrain flight - NVG terrain flight is defined as flight at 200 feet AHO or less.
Restrictions on altitudes and airspeeds are as follows:
a.
Low level - When operating with skids or wheels above 80 feet AHO--whatever airspeed operational requirements dictate and aircraft limitations allow.
b.
Contour - When operating with the skids or wheels between 25 feet AHO and 80 feet AHO--70 KIAS (maximum).
c.
NOE - When operating with the skids or wheels above trees and vegetation in the flight path up to 25 feet AHO--40 KIAS (maximum).
