I am currently trying to find another USAR Soldier accepted into the WO Flight Program with as many problems as me. I was accepted in Feb. of 2005 and I am atteding WOCS in January(after 4 course cancellations) BUT they are sending me back home to sit until 2007 when a Flight School slot opens up. The Army it seems has created a problem with having plenty of candidates but not enough schools to train them. Although flying helicopters for the Army is life long goal my current civilian employment pays the bills. I briefly mentioned switching to the Active Component and the Reserve Componant almost removed me from the program just for mentioning it. They don't want me vacating a slot. Anyways, I am now having to get another Class 1A Flight Physical because my old one will expire. THis is not a big deal but as a Reserve Soldier in the Medical Corp I am recieving virtually no assistance. The unit I am supposed to be transfered to is in no hurry to take me on and my current unit (medical) doesn't know what to do with me so I have no job but to sit and wait for school. I am not trying to run down the Reserve system but I do want to warn those aspiring to get into the Reserve Flight Program that it is a rollercoaster ride that may take years to even get to school. If anyone has anything to add please write back with comments or even advice.
Thanks for your time,
P.S.
