Take courses that will amount to a major that is useful to you when you get out of the military. The Army Aviation officer ascestions (SP?) system that you go through is pretty dumbed down.
They are looking for leadership potential in an aviation atmosphere.
In my specific case, I have my Commercial, Multi-Engine with Instrument flight certificate for fixed wing/light aircraft. Did that matter one ounce during the decision process? NO! WHICH IS CRAZY. Did it matter that my major was Aeronautical Science from the finest aviation college on earth? NO! WHICH IS CRAZY. Did it matter that I was an Avionics Mechanic on AH-64's for 2 years? NO! WHICH IS CRAZY.
I don't say these things to toot my own horn, it's just fact.
The Army can't account for everything. High GPA is the largest determining factor right now. Get good grades and and be a solid cadet and it will probably work out in your favor.
OR, become and SMP with a National Guard aviation unit and guarantee yourself a flight slot. |
